  • 3 times less likely to say they put forth their best effort at school
  • 3 times less likely to say they push themselves to do better academically
  • 3 times less likely to believe they work hard to reach their goals
  • 2 times less likely to say they enjoy participating in class
  • 2 times less likely to say they enjoy learning new things
  • 2 times less likely to feel that teachers help them learn from their mistakes

…than students who say they do not give up when school work is difficult.
